Map a Plan for Growth (Step 1 of 4)

Spiritual growth does not happen by accident - it takes desire, planning, effort and sacrifice. The LifeQuest Growth Plan is a tool designed to help you identify specific areas of future growth and focus in your spiritual walk for the next twelve months. The Growth Plan is used to discover where in your life God wants to initiate change and helps you develop goals for personal spiritual growth in these areas.

The first step of the mapping process is to review all of your information from your Reflection Guide exercises and Spiritual Walk Assessment on your My Assessments page. Spend some time looking at all of this information together. Spend time praying to God, asking Him to give you direction on where He wants you to grow in your spiritual walk.

  • What are the patterns that emerge across the different areas?
  • What are your spiritual strength areas to build upon and leverage?
  • What are your growth areas that might need more focus and attention?
  • What are you really passionate or interested in doing?

The next step of the mapping process is to identify two or three specific areas where you would like to grow spiritually in the next year. On the next pages, write down a goal statement that describes how you would like to grow in your selected areas. For each growth goal, write down three or four detailed and specific action steps you will take to help accomplish each goal.

There are no right or wrong goals to set as part of your Growth Plan. The best goals are those you feel God is leading you to set and those you are motivated to work toward. We encourage you to identify specific action steps that will help you accomplish each of your goals. Having these steps will help you assess throughout the year whether you are making progress on your Growth Plan.
